Hairbangers Ball with special guest Arra

Rolling through the “Decade of Decadence” like a 50-ton freight train, iconic bands such as Guns N’ Roses, Mötley Crüe, Bon Jovi and Poison (to mention only a few) made the 1980’s a musical era the likes of which we’re doubtful to see again. In 2001, lamenting the heyday of hairbands, Hairbanger’s Ball sought to rekindle the flame for these Gods of Rock by tapping into the nostalgic and undeniable energy of that bygone era. ARRA is one of the best and largest drawing classic rock tribute bands in the Chicagoland area and has been for the past three decades. The band was also voted BEST CLASSIC ROCK BAND for five straight years in the Nitelife Best of the Burbs Contest! By performing the biggest hits by the biggest bands of all time, with precision and excellence, it has been, and continues to be, the secret to their success. Their superior vocal harmonies and incredible musicianship have made them one of the most sought-after club and festival bands in the Chicago area market.

John 5

For almost 30 years, John 5 has been one of the most in-demand guitar players on the planet. As well as a guitarist for hire, 5 has shared the stage as axe-man for Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and Rob Halford. He has also worked with an impressive array of names, from all walks of music, including KD Lang, Rod Stewart, Dave Lee Roth, Alice Cooper, Tina Guo and Steven Adler. To call John 5 a shredder does not do him justice. There’s little he can’t put his hand to.

TRUTH – A Jeff Beck Experience

Keith Snyder began his daily devotion to learning Jeff Beck’s catalog in 2017, after his devotion to Jimi Hendrix. He was subsequently diagnosed with terminal cancer, but his will power and doctors wouldn’t hear of that!  Former tourmate Steve Ozark drove from Lawrence, Kansas to monthly jams with Snyder, aiming to lift his spirts as only music does. Today, Keith is in full remission and this project drives him to share his inimitable spirit with others, through the music of Jeff Beck. Ozark used his resources to find the rest of the band and hit the jackpot. Philadelphia native Bradford Hoopes began playing piano at 3 years old and it shows how he lives and breathes in his playing. A music graduate from Dartmouth, he toured extensively and living in cities including LA, Seattle, San Diego, Phoenix and now Lawrence, Kansas. Kent Burnham was recognized as the first call virtuoso in Kansas City, until he took up 59 music students each week to keep him growing. But this project was a dream come true, having feasted on many phenomenal plays who worked with Beck, Vinnie Colaiuta, Richard Bailey and most especially Terry Bozzio’s work on Guitar Shop. TRUTH seeks to celebrate and honor the greatest, most expressive guitarist of all time. With Jeff’s passing, the world is wanting to celebrate Jeff’s incredible catalog of matchless musical expression.

Glenn Hughes with Special Guest Enuff Z’Nuff

Vocalist/bass guitarist/songwriter Glenn Hughes is a true original. No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. That astonishing voice is Hughes’ calling card. Hughes, a native of Cannock, England, absorbed all kinds of influences, including early British hard rock, the Beatles and, most importantly, American soul and R&B. The sleek Motown sound from Detroit and the gritty Stax/Volt sound from Memphis left their mark on him.  Best known as the lead singer in Deep Purple, some of his greatest hits include “Burn”, “Still The Night”, ” The Look In Your Eye”, ” You Kill Me”, and more! Enuff Z’Nuff are the living, breathing example of what a rock/pop group should be. The band’s first release, Fingers On It, gave the band some initial recognition when the track was featured in the 1986 cult movie, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.  Still a major force after 20+ albums, Enuff Z’Nuff still has a legion of loyal fans, and has earned the respect and acclaim of its peers and contemporaries.

Mr. Big: “The BIG Finish”: Farewell Tour

MR. BIG is putting on their signature top hats and old shoes one last time for a worldwide tour, aptly titled “The BIG Finish.” Since the band’s original drummer and co-founder, Pat Torpey, lost his battle with Parkinson’s disease in 2018, the band now feels it’s time to mark the end of this chapter of their legacy.  “We wanted to do a proper farewell, and this seems like the right way to do it,” asserts bassist/vocalist Billy Sheehan. Notes guitarist/vocalist Paul Gilbert, “We’re in the process of making sure we come up with a suitably big entertainment extravaganza to go along with our music. And since our music has resonated so wonderfully in places all over the world, we’re going to play in as many of those places as we can.” Submits lead vocalist Eric Martin, “If we were in the movie business, we’d just put it all up in lights and say, ‘Welcome to The BIG Finish!’ Seriously, I’m glad we’re getting a chance to do it all onstage together as MR. BIG again and raise a flag to everything we’ve done as a band over the years.”  Joining MR. BIG on drums for this special final world tour will be longtime friend of the band Nick D’Virgilio (Spock’s Beard, Big Big Train), stepping in for founding drummer/vocalist Pat Torpey. “We found a wonderful drummer in Nick, and he’s got a great voice too,” confirms Sheehan. “Nick has a vocal range similar to Pat’s, and he’ll be able to do the parts Pat did with a similar finesse. It’s a big relief because MR. BIG has always been heavy on the harmonies. When the band began, we really relied on each other. We knew each guy would do exactly what he needed to do vocally and to do it righteously, on key, and in time. It’s difficult to find a drummer who sings in that range, but Nick has the voice we really need onstage.”  One particular aspect of this upcoming final run that MR. BIG are excited about to a man is the decision to perform the entirety of their breakthrough Platinum-selling 1991 album LEAN INTO IT from start to finish as a featured highlight of the live setlist. (To be sure, the full setlist will encompass Mr. Big’s entire career.) LEAN INTO IT is the perfect litmus testament to the band’s inherent dexterity at blending a variety of styles together, whether it’s the heady rocking brew of “Green-Tinted Sixties Mind,” the power-drilled and power-chorded identity checklist “Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy,” or the truly heartfelt sentiments found within “To Be With You,” MR. BIG’s chart-topping, worldwide #1 smash hit single.  When it comes to harnessing the real thing that best represents the unyielding power of rock & roll, MR. BIG have truly got what it takes. Make sure to catch them before they bring down that final curtain, because when it’s through, it’s through.

An Evening with Haken

Haken is a London-based progressive rock band that started off playing relatively straightforward prog metal on early albums like 2010’s Aquarius, then expanded their approach to deliver a kaleidoscopic meld of prog metal, jazz fusion, electronic pop, and anthemic rock on 2013’s The Mountain. Haken deliberately wove new wave elements into 2016’s Affinity, their international breakout album, thanks in no small part to first single “Initiate.” 2018’s Vector was a concept album about the catatonic victim of a psychotic doctor. Two years later, Virus directly extended the narrative as COVID-19 affected the world. 2023’s Fauna expanded their already diverse musical universe even further, roping in elements of djent and dub.
