POSTPONED: A Flock of Seagulls

A Flock Of Seagulls may well be known for their bizarrely teased haircuts as much as their hit single ‘I Ran’. A Flock of Seagulls were one of prime movers in the 80’s new wave era. Growing out of the synth-heavy and ruthlessly stylish new romantic movement. Hairdresser Mike Score (lead vocals, keyboards) formed A Flock of Seagulls with his brother Ali (drums) and fellow hairdresser Frank Maudsley (bass) in 1980, adding guitarist Paul Reynolds several months later. The group released its debut EP on Bill Nelsons Cocteau Records early in 1981, and while the record failed to chart, its lead track, ‘Telecommunication,’ became an underground hit in Euro-disco and new wave clubs. The group had a string of international hit singles including “I Ran (So Far Away)” “Space Age Love Song”, “Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)”, and “The More You Live, the More You Love”. Their video for “I Ran (So Far Away)” received airplay on MTV during the Second British Invasion. The band won a Grammy Award in 1983 for their instrumental “D.N.A.”. In 2018 the members of the original lineup came together to record an album with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra entitled Ascension.

Great White with Slaughter

“Mitch Malloy is the lead singer of Great White. He’s an incredible singer, artist, songwriter and engineer,” lead guitarist, Mark Kendall said. “We’re beyond excited to stretch our musical muscles with a fresh, new take on Great White’s catalog of hits.” That arsenal of songs include the Grammy nominated Best Hard Rock Performance hit, “Once Bitten, Twice Shy,” Great White has sold over 10 million albums worldwide, has six Top 100 Billboard hits, nine Top 200 Billboard albums, two platinum albums, and clocked the top of MTV four times. To experience their hits live in concert—“Rock Me,” “Mista Bone,” “Save Your Love,” “House of Broken Love,” and “Lady Red Light”—is to ride an emotional wave of sultry connections, arousing lyrics, and an all-out marathon of hard-hitting orchestrations. Slaughter hit radio, MTV and the U.S. touring circuit like a tornado- coming seemingly out of nowhere to roll through everything in its path and turn it upside down. Touring the world with bands that they loved, Kiss, Ozzy, and others meant the good times were just a song away , and their first hit single, “Up All Night” certainly fit into that mold, their second chart-topper, “Fly to the Angels” was more representative of the spirituality and awareness that goes into most of the band’s music and lyrics. But never were Slaughter more accurately represented that live onstage in front of their legions of devoted fans over the last ten years.

Zebra // Angel

Zebra is a hard rock band founded in 1975 in New Orleans, Louisiana. It features Randy Jackson (guitar and vocals), Felix Hanemann (bass, keyboards and vocals) and Guy Gelso (drums and vocals). Zebra supported their first album by opening on national tours with Loverboy, Cheap Trick, and a few dates with Journey. Even before the first album release, they had gained considerable attention opening for the likes of Kiss, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, and Molly Hatchet. A newspaper review of the 3/1/83 Nassau Coliseum Zebra / Aerosmith show told this story: “With the capacity crowd’s response to Zebra’s electrifying performance was so overwhelming, Steven Tyler and company declined to take the stage for an hour and a half in order to allow everyone to simmer down. Unfortunately for them, the delaying tactic backfired… when the headliners eventually did appear, a renewed chorus of Zebra cheers greeted them”. Needless to say,  Zebra holds their own among the greats of classic rock and are sure to deliver a show that will leave you buzzing for days after.

Lee Greenwood

Music has always been a part of Lee Greenwood’s life. He started playing the piano when he was seven and the saxophone at 12.  With seven #1 songs & 25 charted singles to his credit, choosing songs proved to be a success for Greenwood. His country hits include: “It Turns Me Inside Out”, “Ring On Her Finger Time On Her Hands”, ”She’s Lying”, “I Don’t Mind the Thorns If You’re The Rose”, “Dixie Road”, “Somebody’s Gonna Love You”, “Going Going Gone”, “You Got A Good Love Comin”, “Fools Gold”, and “Mornin Ride” while he already garnered several crossover hits such as “Touch & Go Crazy”, “IOU” and the duet with Barbara Mandrell, “To Me”. Lee Greenwood has won numerous industry awards including, Male Vocalist of the Year from the Academy of Country Music in 1983, two Male Vocalist of the Year awards from the Country Music Association in 1983 & 1984 and a Grammy for Top Male Vocal Performance in 1985 for “I.O.U.”. The CMA also named “God Bless The U.S.A.” its Song of the Year in 1985. “God Bless the USA” went far beyond what Greenwood expected when he wrote it in the back of his tour bus in 1983. The song has been in the top five on the country singles charts three times (1991, 2001 and 2003), giving it the distinction of being the only song in any genre of music to achieve that feat. It was also #1 on the pop charts after 9/11/01. In addition, CBS News voted “God Bless The U.S.A.” the most recognizable patriotic song in America.

Ask Josh Todd about the inspiration behind Warpaint, Buckcherry’s eighth studio album–and indeed, the frontman’s goal in making music–and he’s got a ready response: “I want to connect with people, host the party, and give people a night they’re never going to forget,” Todd says. As he sings in Warpaint’s title track, “I wanna have fun blowing out your eardrums keep it rocking state to state.” The Los Angeles-based lineup has been doing exactly that since the 1999 release of their self-titled album. Hits including “Lit Up,” “For the Movies,” “Crazy Bitch” and “Sorry,” not to mention Grammy nominations, international touring and Platinum sales, have solidified Buckcherry’s rock ‘n’ roll bona fides.

The Gilmour Project, Pink Floyd Tribute

The Gilmour Project was poised and ready to launch in April 2020, then the world hit the pause button. They re-emerge in 2021 pivoting to David Gilmour’s Pink Floyd repertoire. The songs that compel exploration & improvisation are mainly Gilmour’s and this rendition certainly does not dismiss the iconic contributions of all 5 historic musicians that comprise the Pink Floyd complement. The Gilmour Project incorporates musicians whose background is both prog(ressive) AND improvisational, and is the only band since Blue Floyd in 2000, endeavoring to take these songs ‘OUT,’ speaking in jazz protocol, without disregarding the cherished classic hooks, licks & musical phrases. Acclaimed musicians Jeff Pevar (lead guitar with CSN, David Crosby, Phil Lesh, Ray Charles) and Kasim Sulton (bass & vocals with Todd Rundgren’s Utopia, Meatloaf & Blue Oyster Cult), Prairie Prince (co founder of The Tubes, & drums with Todd Rundgren, Jefferson Starship, Phil Lesh), Mark Karan (guitar & vocals with Bob Weir, RatDog, The Other Ones), and Scott Guberman (keyboard & vocals with Phil Lesh), are more than psyched to bring you the The Gilmour Project

A Flock of Seagulls // Wang Chung

WANG CHUNG, the duo of Nick Feldman and Jack Hues, came out of the post-punk, New Wave scene in the UK going on to achieve global success selling millions of records. Throughout their 39 year career they have released 6 studio albums and 2 greatest hits collections. They have had 6 US Top 40 hits including a massive Number 1 single. In the process of all of this (and somewhat unintentionally), Wang Chung became part of the contemporary culture of North America. Their huge smash, “Everybody Have Fun Tonight”, with its now famous line, “Everybody Wang Chung tonight”, saw the invention of a new US verb – “to Wang Chung”. Icons such as Homer Simpson and Frasier Crane name-checked the band on TV. Wang Chung even achieved punch-line status in the movie The Spy Who Shagged Me. The band became a multi-media sensation with urban lexicon cache that will entertain and confound for generations. You will find their decade-defying hits as part of the soundtracks to dozens of commercials, films, video games, TV shows, and more. Now, when you’re at any social gathering and someone asks, “Can you tell me what a Wang Chung is?”, you can amaze and astound everyone around you with the details to formulate the perfect informed answer.

June 6th 2022 marks the 40th Anniversary of one of the most infamous, notorious, controversial Heavy Metal Bands in the World…W.A.S.P. Few Bands in the history of Rock N’ Roll have ever incited the love, the hate, the raw emotional effect this Band has had on the world. From the very beginning, in the small venues of Los Angeles California, and later to the numerous countries worldwide that banned these Winged Assassins from performing live, the Band’s unique style of Shock and Rock caused Religious organizations, Local City Councils, Parliaments, and the Washington D.C. Senate to hold hearings in an effort to bar this group from selling records and trashing stages everywhere they played. The band’s founding member, frontman Blackie Lawless, has led the group as its lead vocalist and primary songwriter since its beginning.  His unique brand of visual, social and political comment took the group to worldwide heights and sold millions of records alongside a legacy of sold out shows across the globe for 4 decades.
