Kings X with special guest Sound & Shape

King’s X is an Arcada Theatre favorite that returns with its powerful progressive metal, funk and soul with vocal arrangements influenced by gospel, blues, and British Invasion rock groups.  With a cult-following, deep-meaning lyrics and rockin-loud riffs, King’s X was ranked No. 83 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock! At a time when sub genres threaten to overwhelm, Sound&Shape make pure, unfettered Rock and Roll. Exploring every corner of stylistic possibility within that context, S&S’s songs range from the heavy and fierce to the soothing and gentle. Frontman/songwriter Ryan Caudle’s voice can easily lull you into a false sense of security only to have his guitars come crashing in along with drummer Ben Proctor’s herd-of-stampeding-rhinos drumming and bassist Pat Lowry’s soul rumbling low end.  The band has toured with Sparta, King’s X, Fishbone, Jeremy Enigk, DaDa, Tremonti, John 5, Crobot, The Spill Canvas and others.

Splish Splash: The Music of Bobby Darin

BOBBY DARIN. Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, actor in film and television. He performed in a range of music genres, including jazz, pop, rock’n’roll, folk, swing and country. He started in show business as a songwriter for Connie Francis and achieved world fame in 1958 with his own first million-seller “Splish Splash”. He died following a heart operation in 1973 at the age of 37. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1999, and the Recording Academy gave him a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 Grammy Awards ceremony. It has been said that had he lived, he would have been more famous than Frank Sinatra. Darin was that multi-talented. In this special show, Vegas entertainer Ron Gartner honors the Darin legacy… singing the songs of the swingin-est guy who ever put on a tux…in a show that covers everything from Darin’s rock ‘n’ roll days to the evening at the Copa (with a slight detour into Country, Folk and Political Activism). Finger-snappin’ songs like Mack The Knife, Dream Lover, Beyond the Sea, Artificial Flowers, If I Were a Carpenter, Clementine, That’s All, and many many more!

CTA (starring Danny Seraphine, the original drummer of “Chicago”) with special guest The Buckinghams

In the beginning, there was Chicago Transit Authority. Danny Seraphine, along with his bandmates set out to change the face of Rock and Roll by creating a rock band with horns. During his tenure with Chicago, they scored 20 top 10 hits, (5 reaching #1) and 10 Grammy nominations. He is considered the father of jazz rock drumming. In 2006, Danny came full circle, forming California Transit Authority (CTA). Guitarist Marc Bonilla and Keyboardist Ed Roth have been with CTA since its inception. In 2022, former Chicago bassist/singer Jeff Coffey joined the lineup, making this iteration the most powerful and dynamic in the band’s history. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, evidenced by all the Chicago cover bands out there. Why settle for an imitation when you can have the real deal! One of the most beloved and respected Chicago bands ever to explode onto the national scene, The Buckinghams’ live concerts pack power into 60s pop rock. Bringing back great memories with their chart-topping 60s hits, The Buckinghams include 70s favorites in their powerful sets, electrifying audiences with dynamic vocals and solid harmonies. Full-time since 1982, original members Buckinghams Carl Giammarese and Nick Fortuna and their band have continued to deliver fast-paced shows that bring crowds to their feet. Their No. #1 Billboard hit, “Kind of a Drag” is the standout that first made them famous.

The Gilmour Project – Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side Of The Moon”

The Gilmour Project returns in 2023 celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Pink Floyd’s 1973 ‘The Dark Side of The Moon’.  There are Pink Floyd tribute bands … and then there is The Gilmour Project. The 5-piece, All-Star ensemble, quickly gained a reputation for flipping the ‘Tribute Band’ script on its head, with exploratory performances of iconic and deep cut Pink Floyd classics, David Gilmour-centric and solo compositions, and pulling other surprise classic rock masterpieces out of their hats. Their version of (David Gilmour ‘discovery’) Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ appeared nightly in their sets, weeks ahead of its ‘Stranger Things’ buoyed resurgence to the top of the charts and worldwide press … making the band appear spookily prescient. Not satisfied with laurel resting, they immediately began adding geographic / historically prerogative selections … Grateful Dead’s ‘Dark Star’ in San Francisco … Patti Smith’s (Van Morrison’s actually) ‘Gloria’ in Detroit … The Band’s ‘The Weight’ in Ontario … The Allman Bros. ‘Jessica’ in Atlanta … Tom Petty’s ‘Breakdown’ in Florida … Santana’s (Peter Green composition) ‘Black Magic Woman’ in Mexico City. The Gilmour Project is Jeff Pevar (lead guitar with CSN, David Crosby/CPR, Joe Cocker, Ray Charles, Bette Midler, Blue Floyd, Phil Lesh & Friends, Ricki Lee Jones, Marc Cohn), Kasim Sulton (bass & vocals with Todd Rundgren’s Utopia, Meatloaf, Blue Oyster Cult, Hall & Oates, Cheap Trick & Joan Jett), Prairie Prince (co-founder of The Tubes, original drummer with Journey, drums with Todd Rundgren, Blue Floyd, Jefferson Starship, Phil Lesh & Friends, XTC, George Harrison, Chris Isaak, Dick Dale), Mark Karan (guitar & vocals with Bob Weir, RatDog, The Other Ones, The Airplane Family, Live Dead ’69, Tom Constanten Scott Guberman keyboard & vocals with Phil Lesh & Friends, Live Dead ’69, Keystone Revisited, Englishtown Project

Liverpool Legends – 50th Anniversary of The Beatles The Red and Blue Albums

Liverpool Legends celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Red and Blue Albums. The Red and Blue Albums were the gateway to The Beatles for millions and millions of Beatles fans. For many music fans who were born after the Baby Boom, myself included, the introduction to the Beatles came through two double-album collections, The Beatles 1962-1966 and The Beatles 1967-1970, the Red and Blue albums. Containing a total of 54 selections approved by the former Beatles in 1973, these compilations dug deeper into the catalog than oldies radio or many of our parents ever acknowledged. The Red and Blue albums were compiled and released in the spring of 1973, a year when the legend of The Beatles was even bigger than it had been when the group was together.  Three years after the break-up, all four former Beatles were enjoying enormous solo success. Less greatest hits collections than surveys of The Beatles’ high points, the two double albums became essential introductions for fans who came aboard after The Beatles broke up.  For millions of music lovers born after the mid-fifties, these have been and always will be where The Beatles experience begins.

Vanilla Fudge with Special Guest Kashmir

Heavy starts with Vanilla Fudge. There was nothing, even in 1967, like the 10-ton shock of this Long Island quartet’s cover of the Supreme’s You Keep Me Hanging On, with the lava-flow sustain of Mark Stein’s Hammond organ and Carmine Appice’s rapid-cannon-fire drum fills. Beginning in 1967, Vanilla Fudge rocked the world with a new sound, influencing a generation of musicians and creating a legion of loyal fans.   One of our favorites, KASHMIR incredibly re-creates a true 1970s Led Zeppelin experience with special effects, vintage equipment and costumes, and musically, one of the most fabulous performances you will witness!
