The Chicago house music scene exploded as the Hot Mix 5 show and WBMX 102.7fm became the #1 Radio show in Chicago\, by airing a new sound called House Music. Soon the Hot Mix 5 Radio show became known all over the world as their mixes were sent across America and abroad. Today their mixes are still being sold today on the likes of eBay and other outlets. Many of the Top DJs in the world have recognized The Hot Mix 5 as their mentors\, as to setting the bar of what a DJ can be. The City of Chicago recognized Frankie and the Hot Mix 5’s contribution to the creation of House music and honored them in downtown Chicago on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Balbo Drive with a street called “Hot Mix 5 Way”. DESCRIPTION:The only way for a story to progress is to turn the page. John Ondrasik— the songwriter and performer known as the platinum-selling\, Grammy-nominated\, Five For Fighting—knows this well. In the two decades since his first major single\, “Superman (It’s Not Easy)\,” hit the stratosphere\, the artist has both evolved and come back ‘round full circle. To date\, Five For Fighting\, has released six studio LPs\, including the platinum certified America Town and The Battle for Everything; and the top-10 charting Two Lights\, along with an EP and live albums. Ondrasik has penned major hits\, including the chart-topping “100 Years\,” “The Riddle\,” “Chances\,” “World\,” and “Easy Tonight\,” which have earned over one billion streams and place him as a top-10 Hot Adult Contemporary artist for the 2000s. The reflective “100 Years” has joined “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” as part of the American Songbook and continues to stand the test of time at weddings\, birthdays\, graduations\, memorials\, and many a home video. Five For Fighting’s music has also been featured in more than 350 films\, television shows\, and commercials\, including the Oscar-winning The Blind Side\, Hawaii Five-O\, The Sopranos and the CBS drama\, Code Black. Referencing Fight For Fighting’s success in the 2000s\, AllMusic called Ondrasik “one of the decade’s leading balladeers.” But perhaps his biggest achievement is performing “Superman (It’s Not Easy)\,” at the 2001 Concert for New York\, a benefit show at Madison Square Garden that honored first responders and the fallen about a month after the tragic September 11th attacks. Since that time St John has organized dozens of “full house” celebration concerts bringing rock stars together and playing all the biggest early Montrose hits including Bad Motor Scooter\, Space Station #5\, Rock The Nation\, Good Rockin Tonight\, and the mega-hit Rock Candy. He also collaborated with Japanese guitar legend Tak Matsumoto in the Tak Matsumoto Group (TMG)\, merging Japanese rock influences with his own rock roots and expanding his global fanbase. DESCRIPTION:Al Jardine\, guitarist\, vocalist and songwriter\, is best known for being one of the founding members of The Beach Boys. After his family moved to Hawthorne\, California\, in the mid-50’s\, Al met Brian\, Carl and Dennis Wilson and Mike Love\, to form the band in 1961. Al played guitar\, arranged and produced many songs and sang lead on the No. 1 hit “Help Me\, Rhonda.” In 1988\, Al was inducted into the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Beach Boys and in 2001\, he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award Grammy. In 2005\, Al released Sloop John B: A Pirate’s Tale\, a fun-filled adventure children’s book based on the classic folk song (and Beach Boys hit) of the same name. Al released his first studio album\, A Postcard from California\, in 2010\, which was re-released to a worldwide audience in 2022 from Universal Music. Throughout the last decade and a half\, Al has continuously toured with Brian Wilson\, The Beach Boys (on their 50th Anniversary Tour) and on his own with his Endless Summer Band. With the summer 2025 release of a new 4-track EP called Islands In The Sun\, Al Jardine continues to produce new music on his own that captures the spirit and vibe of The Beach Boys’ biggest hits.
