STUDIO 64: BOOK SIGNING AND Q&A WITH AUTHORS OF 70s CHICAGOLAND ROCK CONCERTS, THE LOOP FILES, FLIP SIDE RECORDS and DOIN’ THE CRUISE
December 8 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
The 1970s and 1980s were the golden age for Chicagoland rock concerts, FM radio stations and record stores. Promising concert photographers were in the pits capturing the action while budding music journalists were writing about these performances. Classic rock radio stations like WLUP- FM “The Loop” and their larger-than life-personalities (and producers) were as vital to the music as those who made it. Record stores were gathering places for the culturally connected to walk the aisles, turn each other on to favorite albums, and purchase concert tickets and rock posters. NO RSVP or tickets needed to attend this event. The books and authors are:
70s Chicagoland Rock Concerts by veteran rock concert photographer Jim Summaria and music writer Mark Plotnick.
The Loop Files – An Oral History of the Most Outrageous Radio Station Ever by Eckhartz Press publisher, writer and radio producer Rick Kaempfer.
The Flip Side – Where Chicago Rocked by Flip Side record store chain founders and entrepreneurs Carl and Larry Rosenbaum.
Doin’ the Cruise – Memories from a Lifetime in Radio and Rock & Roll by legendary Chicago FM radio personality Mitch Michaels.
At 3:00 pm, The Ides of March will be performing on the Arcada’s main stage. Purchase tickets for the concert at oshows.com/events and make it a full day of rock ‘n’ roll memories!
