West Towns Chorus 27th Annual Christmas Show
The men of the West Towns Barbershop Chorus will take the Arcada’s stage for the first time on December 8th and 9th!
The 2017 Illinois District Chorus Champions and 1987 Barbershop Harmony Society International Chorus Champions, the West Towns Chorus, is one of the premier men’s choruses in the Chicago area. Chartered in 1948, this Illinois District chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society has a long-standing history of delighting audiences through harmonies and songs spanning decades and genres.
The West Towns Chorus is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization on a mission to Change Lives Though Song. We believe in the power of music and desire to share our song with others and teach those willing to learn our craft.
Barbershop harmony is a style of unaccompanied vocal music characterized by consonant four-part chords for every melody note in a predominantly homophonic (the same word sounds at the same time) texture. The melody is consistently sung by the lead (second tenor), with the tenor (first tenor) harmonizing above the melody, the bass singing the lowest harmonizing notes, and the baritone completing the chord. Occasional brief passages may be sung by fewer than four voice parts.
